Working of Laser Engraver

Laser engraving is the process of using laser machines to mark or engrave on a process. The advantage of using these processes is that it does not involve the use of inks nor does it involve any tools that wear out as no contact is involved. It just requires you to adjust the laser for proper engraving and adjust the intensity.

Demo of laser engraver works

So my building neighbour came to me with a project idea for Valentine’s Day. He wanted to engrave a drawing that he made onto a flask for his girlfriend. I thought it was a nice idea and decided to borrow the Laser engraver at the company workshop for some time. After running into some snags we finally managed to do this.

So our first trouble was when we used the software of the laser engraver. The software did not accept the .svg file that my friend had brought along. When we scanned the drawing there was too much detail, hence we got a file of a huge size. We saved the file in bitmap format finally and got a move on things.

Since I had never done this before, I thought to first try the laser engraver out on another metal. We used a slab of anodized aluminium. Worked fine on the aluminium but I had no idea what material the flask was made of. So we decided to do it anyway.

The result was a fail. The surface of the flask was too reflective and so it kept deflecting the laser beam. Next we tried out putting scotch tape to the surface of the flask which would allow the laser to leave a mark on the surface. We did get some success but it is not exactly what we wanted.
So finally wed decided to engrave on the leather casing that Karl had made while i was tinkering on the laser. We tried out on other pieces of leather before we got into it. And then after seeing the results we engraved the original piece. And that is one we made the perfect gift.

Hello I am Esmond Perry & who R U :)

Laser marking system - some words from the leaders

As clear from the name itself, this is a new technology which gives you the high quality marking and coding systems. There is no doubt that this technology can give you a high quality print coupled with high speed and the most important thing to note is its ability to print in an extremely small area. It can also operate in any variable environment. This point undoubtedly makes this technology better than any other technologies for marking and coding systems. Along-with the other pints it can also be mentioned here that this technology can be used to code or mark on any surface including even plastics.

The companies that claim to be the leaders in the business describe their laser marking machines with all the features. The features which meet your requirement most closely can be chosen and then the decision can be taken on which company can provide you with the best machine. The leaders in this business are Videojet and Telesis. Let us take a look on the feature of the machines of each company.

Videojet:

The advantages that the Videojet CO2 laser marking printer provides includes high speed, suppleness and most importantly compactness which makes them easier to work with. The other additional feature which makes this machines stand alone among the crowds is the Videojet fiber lasers which have a very low-maintenance but delivers very compact, high quality and a very consistent high quality codes. These machines can be used to code on Direct Parts Marking (DPM) and Unique Identification (UID) applications on metals, plastics and other hard surfaces. These are suitable in the industry such as: electronics, aerospace, automotive, medical device etc.

Telesis:

One of the leaders in the business is Telesis. They are the one to first introduce fiber lasers for marking applications. Their new offers on the block comprise of quite big range of laser systems for a large number of marking and material processing applications. They have also introduces pin-marking solutions especially for the automotive and aerospace industries.

Therefore we can see that both these companies are quite biggies in the market of industrial laser marking systems and they also have their own ways to appeal to the customers. While some would like to rely on the introducers more than the followers while some likes to experiment with new people and companies who makes the followers also to come up in the market and succeed.
