According
to the latest reports, the new legislation on parental leave which
will be implemented this year will double up the tasks for employment
solicitors
in
Twickenham
and
other areas of UK.
Known
as 'Shared
Parental Leave' and abbreviated as SPL, this law will be enforced
in December and will give benefits to the parents whose babies are
born on 5th
April 2015 and later to share maternity leave and payment with
flexible working hours.
Opportunities for employment solicitors
Whether
you are working at a firm based in Hounslow
or any other place, the law
will be applicable to you if you are a parent whose baby is going to
be born on 5th
April or thereafter. This has created various opportunities for
employment solicitiors
as
the amount of employers searching for someone to advice them and
handle their case will go up.
Current leave pattern
According to the current leave
pattern, mothers can take upto 52 weeks of maternity leave and get 39
weeks of maternity pay. On the other hand, fathers are given two
weeks of paternity leave during the birth of the child and 26 weeks
parental leave as soon as the baby is 20 weeks old and she chooses to
get back to work.
Government Estimation
As
estimated by the government authorities in the UK, only 2 to 8% men
will choose to go with the SPL law
in 2015-16 and with European countries, the number might go up as and
when the fathers are made aware of the facilities offered by this
legislation.
